Where Did the Money Go?
Money can disappear without one dramatic expense. The answer is usually in the small and large payments made along the way.
“We made sales this month. Why is there barely any money left?”
Sometimes there is one obvious answer.
More often, the money left in pieces: stock, transport, subscriptions, supplier payments, refunds, small transfers, owner withdrawals.
To understand where the money went, follow the movement instead of staring at the ending balance.
₦850k came in. Watch what happened next.
This is a simple movement example, not a Profit calculation. Money In and Money Out tell you where cash moved.
Nothing looks serious by itself.
₦4,500 here. ₦8,000 there. ₦12,000 for something “small.”
Small payments become hard to notice because none of them feels important enough to remember.
That is exactly why they should be recorded.
Turn “where did it go?” into something answerable.
What came in?
Record the cash that actually entered the business.
What went out?
Record every payment that actually left.
What was it for?
Give the payment a useful category so patterns become visible.
What is left?
Then compare the movement with your current Business Cash and commitments.
Do not investigate your money once a quarter.
The longer you wait, the more every payment becomes a memory test.
Record Money In and Money Out close to when they happen. Review the categories weekly. Question anything you do not recognise.
If you cannot explain a payment later, record it better today.
Stop reconstructing the month from memory.
Use Quinbis App to record Money In and Money Out as they happen, review the movement and keep Business Cash easier to explain.
